Music In Monmouth
Monmouth has a long history of music with many musicians in the area and many venues providing quality music throughout the year.
Music can be found in any number of pubs scattered around town as well as more dedicated venues like The Savoy and Blake theatres.
The Monmouth Festival
The Monmouth Festival is one of the biggest free festivals in the UK.
The Festival covers musical events and other entertainments which take place in the Wye valley, and is organized by the people of Monmouth, for the people of Monmouth.
From rock to classical, or the Kymin Dash and town carnival there is something for everyone to get involved in and have a great time! As always there is a fun day on the last Sunday.

The Merlin Music Society
Since 1963 the Merlin Music Society, a registered Charity based in Monmouth, has provided live classical music of a standard usually available only in cities. We are recognised as one of the foremost music societies of the UK.
Past performers include John Lill, Richard Rodney Bennett, Ian Bostridge, Pascal Rogé, Freddy Kempf, Ailish Tynan, Llyr Williams, BBC NOW, European Union Chamber Orchestra, English Symphony Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, the Wallace Collection, I Fagiolini, Boyan Ensemble of Kiev, Endellion String Quartet, Kit and the Widow.

The Monmouth Concert Orchestra
The MCO is a young orchestra started Spring 2007 and yet already has a membership of 50 plus players. It meets every two weeks on Friday night from 7.00 to 9.15 pm and has a regular attendance of some 35 plus musicians. The orchestra and its musical director bring orchestral and ensemble playing to a wide cross section of musicians providing musical instruction and encouragement at a pace suited to the level of players within the group.
