Nick Ramsey, AM For Monmouth
Born in 1975, Nick is originally from Cwmbran. He went to Croesyceiliog
Comprehensive School before attending St John's College at the University of
Durham where he gained a Joint Honours degree in English and Philosophy. He
later gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics from Cardiff
University.
Nick has previously worked as a researcher for the Welsh Conservatives' Assembly
leader Nick Bourne AM. Prior to that he worked for former Monmouth AM – now MP –
David Davies and even had a stint as a driving instructor! Nick was elected to
Monmouthshire County Council from June 2004 to May 2008 representing the ward of
Mardy. He became Assembly Member for Monmouth in May 2007 and is currently
Shadow Minister for Local Government and Public Services.
In his role as AM, Nick also sits on the Health, Wellbeing and Local Government
Committee as well as the Equality of Opportunity Committee.
Aside from politics, Nick enjoys tennis and pub quizzes. He is also a follower
of Welsh Rugby - his grandfather Jack Davies played for Pontypool Rugby Club in
the 1950s.
