The Nelson Museum, Monmouth
Find out about the life, loves, death and commemoration of the famous admiral through

Horatio Nelson was born in Norfolk, died at sea, and is buried in St. Paul's Cathedral
- yet Monmouth is home to a magnificent collection of Nelson material. Find out
about the origins of the collection, and about the life, loves, death and commemoration
of the famous admiral through displays of weapons, pictures, fine ceramics, silver
and glass, ships models and letters.
The history of the ancient Wye Valley market town is illustrated in displays in
the same building. Charles Stuart Rolls, co-founder of Rolls-Royce, lived near Monmouth
and his exploits in balloons, early motor cars and aeroplanes are also seen in the
History Center.

Castle & Regimental Museum, Monmouth
The Castle & Regimental Museum, Monmouth focuses on the Royal Monmouthshire
Royal Engineers, but there are also sections on the early defences of Monmouth and
its castle and on Henry V who was born in the town. The website gives an introduction

Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia)
The Castle and Regimental Museum, Monmouth, holds early papers and documents belonging
to the regiment of the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers, which, as the sole survivor
of the Militia system, is the Senior Regiment of the Reserve Army. Some regimental
papers relating to the Dukes of Beaufort are also kept (although most of these papers
are held at Badminton). The Museum focuses on the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers.
Also covered are the earlier defences of Monmouth and its castle, locally-born Henry
V and Agincourt, the mustering of the Militia regiment, and its role.

Usk Rural Life Museum, Usk
The Usk Rural Life Museum portrays life as it was in the Welsh borders at any time
between the 1850s and the Second World War. Housed in an ancient malt bar, the museum's
collection of equipment and machinery has been collected by a group of local enthusiasts.
